Gold Defeats Blue 74-67 in Pittsburgh Scrimmage

PITTSBURGH--Senior Lamar Patterson and junior Cameron Wright each scored a game-high 25 points in leading the Gold squad to a decisive 74-67 victory over the Blue team in Friday evening's Oakland Zoo Blue-Gold Scrimmage at Petersen Events Center.The Gold squad took the lead midway through the first half and never looked back, building its lead to as many as 11 points (66-55) with 2:45 left in the game. The Gold team took advantage of 82.9 percent free throw shooting, converting 29-35 from the line. Patterson and Wright drew fouls all night long and combined for superb 22-25 free throw shooting as it took control of the game.

Along with his 25 points, Patterson hit 5-11 field goals, 12-13 free throws, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists in 30 minutes. Meanwhile, Wright scored his 25 by converting 7-14 shots and 10-12 free throws in 29 minutes. It was Wright's second consecutive 20-point scrimmage as the junior from Cleveland scored 27 points and hit the game-winner at the buzzer in Pitt's first Blue-Gold Scrimmage on Oct. 6. Freshman forward Michael Young added 16 points for the winners who were outrebounded 32-25.

The Blue squad was paced by four double figure scorers including senior Talib Zanna, who finished with 19 points and a game-high 17 rebounds, sophomore James Robinson (15 points, eight assists), sophomore Durand Johnson (17 points) and freshman Jamel Artis (13 points).
