Pitt Intrasquad Game from October 6th

Junior Cameron Wright scored a game-high 27 points, then hit a last second 3-pointer from halfcourt to give his Blue team to a one-point 68-67 victory over the Gold squad in Sunday's Pitt Basketball Blue-Gold Scrimmage at Petersen Events Center.

Following a timeout with 12 seconds left to play and his Blue Squad trailing 67-65, Wright found himself alone with the ball at halfcourt with two seconds left. He had no other option but to shoot, so he lofted the ball at the basket and it swished through the net, giving his team a one-point victory. Wright was impressive as he finished with 27 points on 9-15 shooting. He hit all seven of his free throw attempts, finished with five assists, six rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes of action.

"Cameron really stood out today," Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon said. "He really played well today. He's stronger, faster and in better shape and has a better understanding of what we're trying to do."

Wright's Blue squad built its lead in the first half and led by as many as 13 points early in the second half. The Blue Team led 63-53 with 3:40 to go in the game before the Gold squad hit three consecutive 3-pointers down the stretch by Lamar Patterson and Chris Jones (two) to pull within one point, 65-64 with 2:02 left.

The Gold team then took its first and only lead of the game with just 19 seconds to go when sophomore James Robinson set the possession up with a steal. Following a timeout, Robinson drove to his left, stopped and swished a pull-up jumper to give Gold a 67-65 lead with 19 seconds to go. Wright followed with his 3-pointer.
Wright was joined in double figures on the Blue Squad by senior Talib Zanna, who finished with 19 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Freshman Michael Young added seven points and 11 rebounds. The Gold Squad was led by senior Lamar Patterson, who finished with 17 points. Robinson finished with 15 points and nine assists and freshman Jamel Artis contributed 12 points, while junior Derrick Randall had seven points and 11 rebounds.
